How Much Time Can You Spare for Yourself?

There is a lot going on in the world, and sometimes there is just as much going on inside us.
We handle responsibilities, answer messages, check on family, and try to figure out what comes next. But somewhere in the middle of taking care of everything else, we need to stop and ask ourselves:
How am I really doing?
Your mental well-being deserves attention at every age. Being young does not mean you have nothing to worry about. Being older does not mean you should have everything figured out.
Whatever season of life you are in, your feelings deserve care.
🌿 Your struggles do not have to look like anyone else’s
Someone you meet today may be carrying something similar to you—or something completely different.
We cannot always see what another person is going through. That is a reason to offer kindness, including to ourselves.
Someone else having a hard time does not make your own struggles less important. You do not have to compare your pain or wait until things become unbearable before asking for support.
💜 Make a little room for peace
How much time can you spare for yourself today?
Two minutes? Five? Ten?
If you can, find a quiet place where you will not be interrupted. Put your phone aside. Sit comfortably and give yourself permission to pause without answering, explaining, or fixing anything.
You do not have to force your mind to become empty. Simply notice what you are feeling.
Ask yourself:
What has been weighing on me?
What do I need today?
Is there something I need help carrying?
A quiet moment may not change your circumstances, but it can give you room to acknowledge yourself within them. If quiet feels uncomfortable today, you might prefer a gentle walk, writing a few words, or talking with someone you trust.
🌿 If you need help, reach for it
Sometimes we need more than a few peaceful minutes.
That is okay.
Tell someone you trust how you are doing. Reach out to a counselor, therapist, or healthcare professional when you need support. You do not have to know exactly what to say. “I’ve been having a hard time, and I could use some help” is a place to begin.
Making time for yourself also means recognizing when you need someone beside you.
💜 This Monday’s self-care invitation
Choose a small amount of time that belongs to you today. Protect it as you would an appointment with someone you care about.
Because you are someone worth caring for, too.
How much time can you spare for yourself—and when will you take it?
Today’s affirmation:
My mental well-being matters at every age. I make room for peace, acknowledge my feelings, and welcome support when I need it.
With care,
